While I don’t claim to be a fitness guru and I don’t have an extreme weight loss story fit for TLC, I have learned something very valuable in the past two years: how to enjoy exercising. Two years ago, my … Continue reading
I hesitated writing this post. I don’t like to make statements like “I’m a vegan now” and then within 45 days of my “new lifestyle choice” eat an entire rotisserie chicken with my bare hands while standing over the kitchen … Continue reading
Sometimes it’s not the pain you are experiencing that is so troubling, it’s not knowing what is causing the pain. For two weeks now, my face has been red, peeling, and in extreme pain. On that stupid pain scale they … Continue reading
60 days people. 60 days until I have to squeeze into a wedding dress and actually manage to walk, breathe, converse, and possibly even eat. This past weekend I had my final wedding dress fitting (eek!) and while it was awesome, it was also a little horrifying. The dress fits, I can zip it up just fine and walking is easy…but breathing is another story. I have been told it’s normal to not be able to fully breathe in, it’s what keeps all my lady parts inside the dress, but holy cow.
So today marks the start of my next fitness-filled 60 days. I am going to run like it’s my job. I’m going to run so I can eat an extra burrito on our wedding day (yes, we are having a 200-person burrito bar at our wedding complete with 6 pounds of queso). I’m going to run to release tension and ease stress. I’m going to run to hopefully clear up my eczema covered skin which has taken a turn for the worse due to some recent stress. I’m going to run because I can’t believe how far off of the wagon I have fallen. I used to workout 5 days a week, and now I think I’ve worked out twice in the past month. Ugh.
I can’t wait to feel the burn, and hopefully be able to take a nice deep breath on our wedding day in 2 months. Lord knows I will need it with all the excitement and overwhelming feelings that will be sure to surface.
Also, my 9-month pregnant sister has hit the gym about 10 times as much as I have lately. No excuses.
Did you know that your food cravings may actually be a clue as to what your body is telling you it needs in order to function properly or heal itself? Several months ago I started becoming really interested in nutrition … Continue reading
I have officially been vegan for five days. It has been….not what I expected. -I haven’t shaved my legs in several days so now I am a hairy-legged vegan. Typical. I am still wearing Secret chemical-infused deodorant though, so I don’t think I’ve … Continue reading
Today marks the 127th day (4 months) that I have been gluten-free. I have cheated a few times, giving in to Mellow Mushroom pizza twice and Wheat Thins a few other times, but overall have been really careful about not … Continue reading
Dear USA, You know I will always love you (true BFF’s), but sometimes you really worry me. I consider myself to be an open-minded person so I have learned to accept things like macaroni and cheese pizza and chicken sandwiches … Continue reading
I have a new long term goal, one that is sure to please my soon-to-be husband. My goal is to remain active, toned, and physically fit my entire life. This goal was recently spurred by people I encounter every week … Continue reading
Tomorrow morning will be my first morning gym session in 5 months! I can’t wait for the pitch black drive to the gym, the quiet morning air, and the sweaty & satisfied drive home. Here’s hoping my body is ready … Continue reading
